Verna Brooks
For the past five years Verna Brooks has been the Senior Mortgage Executive for Trans-Continental Mortgage & Investment Company. Since 1995, Verna has provided residential and commercial real estate financing, as well as project management. As a true veteran in the lending industry, Verna has partnered with faith-based organizations to help further their ministries. Verna has often taken on the role of project manager and has worked on multiple projects from end to end, from site acquisition all the way through to post construction permanent financing. She is also a certified HUD Housing Counselor.
In addition to her personal expertise, Verna has a highly qualified core professional team that partners with her during project development, design, and implementation. Their expertise and experience range from management, community-based development, market and financial feasibility to accounting, and financial management of construction projects.
Committed to her community, Verna continues to work with several public agencies to assist in bettering her community and those in the community. For two years, she served as a board member on the Community Development Block Grant for the City of Fairfield. As a recognized community leader, Verna held a seat at the Honors committee, where she was charged with naming new streets and buildings in honor of famous community members in the City of Fairfield. From 2002 to 2006, Verna served as the Vice President of Community Services Commissioner. Verna also served as the NAACP Community Outreach coordinator for the NAACP Tri-City Branch. Currently, she works closely with Community Development partners, community rehabilitation and urban redevelopment, and economic self-determination, promoting education, advocacy, and outreach to support community activism.
Verna is currently working towards a Ph.D. in Applied Management Decision Sciences and holds a bachelors degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a masters degree from National University.
